The test consist of exerting a tractive force on the
male ball-joint, normal to the surface of the disc. This
give the adherence value (in daN) of the plaster on
its support, if the break occurs along the contact plane.
It may happen that the break occurs either in the plaster,
in the support, or partly in the contact plane and partly
in the plaster or the support.
In the first two cases, the value obtained characterises
the strength of the plaster or the support; in the last
case, the value obtained has no precise meaning, but
it indicates that the tensile strength of the plaster
or the support is of the same order as the adherence
and gives an average value.
In all cases, the value obtained represents, however,
a minimum adherence value.
The main part of this device is a metal dynamometer
fixed on a circular plate made of light alloy.
By turning the central axis with the handles, an axial
traction is exerted on the male ball-joint screwed onto
the disc.
The dynamometer is therefore compressed, the reaction
to this force taken by the three feet fixed underneath
the circular plate.
